Toyota customer service seems to work much worse than Subaru that I used to own. I tried to discuss several issues with my local dealership in Texas, but my talks just don’t matter to them. It seems like they are free to decide themselves what is covered by the warranty and what’s not. No matter what is claimed on the Toyota’s web-site. On their web they say that the replacements that are made because of the error of manufacturer are all covered by the warranty. But… When I came to my service for the first time my Toyota Matrix was at 4000mi. The plastic splash shield that covers the front right tire just fell off for some reasons. The dealer told me that it’s not under warranty because otherwise they would have to fix it in every second car. Why can’t they fix it before selling to customers then I wondered? They just didn’t seem like they care, so I had to pay money to fix it. In about 20000 miles I met this problem again, however it fell off on a solid speed on highway and thanks God didn’t hit any other vehicles. The shield had also ripped away ABS wiring harness, which made the repair much more expensive. The local dealer said that the warranty doesn’t cover it again. I was insane because that’s the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. I’m very sorry for Toyota Customer Service system because I in general my Toyota Matrix 2006 is totally fine, but because unqualified service I won’t ever buy Toyota again.
Pros and cons:
+ Top comfort and handling, very safe and outstanding design.
- Warranty is only used for commercial and means nothing in actual life.

General experience:
It’s going to be 3 years soon since I bought this car. I’m a single lady and I prefer small cars with automatic transmissions. I’ve had VW Corrado (mechanical transmission) and Honda Prelude as my previous cars. They were 2-doors compact cars ideal for a single lady. This time I decided to get something special like Toyota Yaris and I’m so happy I have it now. I don’t go any further then my work 10mi away from home and twice a month to a shopping center 30mi away. But I always enjoy my ride and it’s always safe and very comfortable. I like the air-conditioning system, however it’s not easy to get used to it. There were no mechanical problems in my Toyota Yaris since I got it, but I treat it very well. Always take it to service on time to change oil and make some technical revision just in case. I also want to add that when I had my previous cars I always used to have some blind spots when I don’t notice other cars. But Toyota Yaris is so thorough designed that it doesn’t have any. I always see everything from my driver’s seat. I need to mention the inner space of Toyota Yaris Sedan. It can easily take 5 people on a ride and there is plenty room in the trunk for a good shoping for a whole family (I regularly have it half-empty).
Pros and cons:
+ A very good looking and stylish car with great gas mileage and nice ride. Easy to park and operate. Very happy that I got this car: Toyota Yaris. My best car ever!
- I’d like it to be a little less noisier inside, to make telephone calls in a quieter place, but it’s not that noisy.

General experience:
I’ve been having this car for two years and I must say that I wouldn’t have bought it if I needed a sports car. It has a slow acceleration and not enough horse powers in general. In fact it’s a good car if you need to save some money on gas and it’s very reliable and goes smoothly and slowly, but better to go slow, and be safe if we are talking about family weekend ride. What I like about this car most of all is that there is plenty space and everything is installed on its place, just the way it’s gonna be easy for people to use. My family adores our Toyota Matrix for its comfort and good size and everything working like Swiss watches. We like the special features offered like the power outlet 115V for electrical devices. It’s not a common thing to use but sometimes I had lacked it before I bought Toyota Matrix.
Pros and cons:
+ Nice front/side viewing, nice size, stylish and pretty car, mileage is good as well. Everything has its place perfectly designed for a human being.
- I don’t like the back view because when I park my car moving back there are some blind spots. However moving in the town there are no problems with these spots, only when parking. This car is slow and wouldn’t be accepted by people who enjoy the fast ride and fast moves.

Starting today I’m ready to sell out my Toyota Yaris and I can explain why. It used to be my second car, but I gave my Honda Civic to my son as a present and you know what – I’ve been having this car for two years never driving it in heavy rain. Yesterday was my first heavy rain on Toyota Yaris and I hope it’s going to be the last. Well, I’ll tell you something at first. I used to always have small cars because of the easy control and small gas consumption, so I’m an experienced driver and I know how the car should act in rain and what I as a driver should do. Today I was driving home and it started raining all of a sudden. I was driving accurately on a highway at about 40 mph and at some moment I felt the wheels had lost the road and speedometer surged 70 mph in a moment. I thought that was it, because it was really scary. Somehow I tried to balance Toyota Yaric, but the vehicle has gone crazy and it was one of the scariest moments of my life. I don’t recommend to buy this car, unless you like adrenaline more than your life.
Pros and cons:
+ Gas saving, ecology saving.
- Danger to drive in rain. Unstable and scary performance on the wet road.

General experience:
I’ll tell you that this car has the best mileage. I had Toyota Corolla before and you know Toyota Matrix acts much better in a whole. The mileage is 22mpg in city and 26mpg on highway. Toyota Matrix looks shorter and smaller than Corolla but in fact it’s bigger when you get into the car. It’s amazing how it can be, but it is more roomy inside and kids like our new car very much. I’ve noticed there is a tiny blind spot, but it’s not as bad as I used to have in Toyota Corolla. Besides Matrix goes quieter and doesn’t jump on the bumps. The acceleration could be better, but I guess 1.8L motor is just not enough. Well, the 2.4L was too expensive for me. The brakes work ok, but there is the only think that already went wrong and I’ll need to visit the Toyota dealership. The brakes are making such an irritating squeak every time, but I think it can be easily fixed.
Pros and cons:
+ I enjoy the cleverness of this car and how they made it look smaller outside and larger inside. The sunroof is so much fun for me and my kids are just so happy when we take a ride all together. The mileage is good and most of things are just making me happy about the purchase of Toyota Matrix.
- Breaks squeak already, so I’ll need to visit my dealer. The car is less than one year old.

General experience:
This car is okay to have as a second car. I have got Durango as my first car and I really love it. Toyota Yaris is a very small car, comparing to Dodge Durango. The reason why I needed to buy it is because when I go to the city to get to my office, I need a smaller car. It’s easy to find a parking place and it’s more economic. However I don’t advice to drive it in a bad weather. When the wind blows hard and if it’s raining Toyota Yaris acts weird. It seems like I don’t have any control over it. At first I thought that I feel this difference, because it’s much lighter than my first car. However I realized that it really can be dangerous to drive it in rain when I nearly hit the highway curbing and I simply wasn’t controlling it, while moving through two lanes. Thanks got there were no other cars around. And I was not speeding, simply driving at 60 mph. Everything else is great, especially the price and the quality in a whole.
Pros and cons:
+ Good price, quality, mileage, safe driving on low speed, easy parking.
- I’ll never take Toyota Yaris in a rainy weather ever again. It’s too easy to lose control over it.

General experience:
I needed a small two-door car and I was looking at inexpensive, but reliable car. One of the things I hate about big cars is that you can’t move quickly enough on a highway in the morning, when everyone is trying to get to their offices. Another thing I dislike about larger cars is gas consumption. Toyota Yaris is a dependable car. I visit my dealer only when I’m supposed to and never because of the problems. That’s the reason why people like to buy new cars. The Toyota manufacturer makes a top quality product. The level of comfort of driver and passengers is beyond the price. Besides my Toyota Yaris looks nice and my girlfriend likes it.
Pros and cons:
+ The durability and the quality guaranteed by the manufacturer is good for real. The top class comfort for 15000$ tells everything. The car is good both for city and hwy and needs less gas then most of others.
- It’s not a good car for big people and of course it’s not for a big family. If you need a small car Toyota Yaris is worth it.

General experience:
The only reason I got this car was because my wife’s father only drives Toyota. I tried to make my wife change her mind, but she just wanted to buy Toyota Yaris and that was it. I said “Ok, whatever” (I prefer American cars so I wasn’t happy about her decision, but actually it was going to be her car so why should I care! I personally have a truck Dodge Challenger). Well, then we came to a dealer, and just took Toyota Yaris hatchback in red. My wife was very excited because it’s her first car and I realized that I just won’t care (but still I was a little anger at her because she didn’t listen to me). Right now she is having this car for more than a year and I actually have changed my mind of it. Toyota Yaris is a very small outside, but pretty roomy inside. It’s comfortable and stable, very easy to drive, and shows a perfect manoeuvrability in city ride, easy to drive in traffic jams. My wife enjoys both the comfort and the performance of her small car. She is just so happy to own Toyota Yaris hatchback that it makes me feel happy because it was my birthday present to her. The mileage is perfect in this car and there were no technical problems. I highly recommend this car to the ladies and small families.
Pros and cons:
+ It made me like Toyota brand much more! Very comfortable car with a good looking design, roomier than most of small cars, mileage is perfect. It’s easy to drive and good to in traffic jams.
- I would like Toyota Yaris to have more optional features, but still have the same low price. : ) However the price is great, so the lack of a climate control or sunroof is not as bad.

2008 Toyota Matrix 1.8 Hatchback
General experience:
I had Ford Focus before this car and Matrix has gas consumption a little better than Focus, despite I thought in should be worse. My Toyota Matrix goes fast uphill without any problems even full loaded with 5 passengers. I also like it in hatchback because in this way it looks better and has much more space inside and in the trunk. The seats are good and the car is solid and very reliable. I like the way it acts on the wet road, it doesn’t slide, it just goes smooth. I can control it in any conditions.
Pros and cons:
+ Good gas saving system, nice and smooth acceleration, strong enough to go uphill even overloaded. Toyota Matrix Hatchback is a comfortable good car, easy to control and much space.
- When the road is bumpy the car goes roughly and there is a little too much noise inside. But I can always make the music louder, in fact the JBL music system is amazing.
Model/Year:
2009 Toyota Matrix 2.4 S AWD
General experience:
This brand new Toyota Matrix 2009 is much faster than the old model. It’s got a better engine and accelerates well. The car is easy to handle, no matter what is the surface and the weather conditions. It used to be a slow car but the 2.4 engine and AWD really makes it perfect. I’m a tall guy 6 feet 5 inches tall and most cars for me are not comfortable to sit at. Toyota Matrix is designed the way to be comfortable to any driver. The seats are easy adjustable and the space in front and back is enough for overweight passengers. As I used to drive the old version of Matrix I can say that the new one has a much better safety and additional options, like ABS, stability control, additional airbags system. All my family members feel safe in this car. The music system installed is JBL, which is premium class music system that performs A+. I really enjoy it very much. The additional convenience is the installed by manufacturer blutooth. So far I love everything about my 09 Toyota Matrix and I can recommend it to everyone.
Pros and cons:
+ Great engine! Good safety, good controls and ABS, that performs in any conditions well, even in snowy winter. Perfect sound system and additional features are very pleasant.
- It’s not quite enough. No bike rack offered by manufacturer.
